EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING IN THE PAST 10 YEARS

Earth used to be cooler sometime ago but now the temperature of the earth is increasing every year which is called global warming. Global warming is resulting in melting of glaciers and icebergs which results in increased amount of water in water bodies causing floods. Global warming is the major cause of famine as increased temperature is dangerous for many crops.

Global warming wasn’t present some years ago but as the man progressed, he used different things to better his life style and didn’t care about the nature. Man is destroying nature but he doesn’t know that nature will also destroy him.

Earth gets most of its heat through the sun but sun rays don’t reach us directly. These rays cross the ozone layer which filters them and then sends them to earth. In past years, man has started the use of refrigerators, air conditioners, photo copiers and other machines. These machines release harmful gases in the atmosphere like chlorofluorocarbons which damage the ozone layer. So, when the sunlight comes, ozone isn’t there to filter it. It strikes earth and earth releases infra-red radiations but the harmful gases make a cloud which doesn’t allow these infra-red radiations to leave which causes increased temperature. This is the greenhouse effect which causes global warming.

To prevent global warming, man needs to save the ozone layer by using catalytic converters which convert harmful gases into useful and less harmful ones. Mankind should plant more trees which will stop and absorb the radiations. Mankind should also reduce the use of fossil fuels and should enhance the use of clean energy. These are some ways that can help prevent global warming.
